things to do in winter | by bek sarkoezy.
here is a brand new original, hooray. winter is coming and you need to know these things etc. this took two hours and it goes for two minutes so i really do hope you enjoy it.
absolutely beautiful <3
its’ springtime and flowers are popping up everywhere! it’s so beautiful. i’ve never seen anything like it at home. the closest i can think of is when the jacaranda trees seem to get their purple flowers overnight. there are daffodils and tulips just popping up on the side of the road! we’ve had blue skies and sun for about a week now so i guess that helps the process along a little. it’s so lovely to sit in the park, surrounded by flowers, reading a book and soaking up the sun. it’s been a lot warmer too. i was able to go out without a jacket two days this week. hopefully this is a good sign of even warmer weather to come.
we bought bikes this week. it’s very exciting because we now have a mode of transport other than our feet. i’m starting to feel more like a local but i’m sure that i ride my bike like a tourist :)
I started reading the hunger games on friday. it’s sunday now and i’ve already finished the first book. i’m not sure what that means. i really enjoyed it though and am looking forward to seeing the movie and reading the rest of the trilogy.
my family is arriving on thursday for a 2 week visit. i’m really looking forward to seeing them and showing them around our new home. we’re also going travelling through france and germany. this will be our first european holiday. hurrah!
anyway, nothing much else is going on. i’ll probably blog again after our holiday.

i had a traditional dutch lunch with my lovely husband the other day. this is erwtensoep - a traditional type of pea and ham/sausage soup. apparently the sign of a good erwtensoep is when your spoon can stand up in the middle of it on its own. i guess this was a good one! it was actually pretty tasty.
